Mr. Swain Edward “Trouse” Perkins, age 82, of the Long Branch section of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Wednesday (November 27, 2019) at his home. Born June 4, 1937 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late James Kelly “Jim” and Alta Keen Perkins. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a retired coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Renia Elsie Hess Perkins; five brothers, Ashby Perkins and wife, Jet, Mason Perkins and wife, Mable, Robert Perkins, Paul Perkins and wife, Trula, Linkous Perkins and wife, Dorothy; two sisters, Rosetta Connors and husband, Jack, Estelle Perkins and husband, Edward and brother-in-law, Guy Plaster.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Perkins and wife, Cass and Johnny Perkins and wife, Sheryl both of Swords Creek, Virginia; one daughter, Jonah Ball of Bristol, Tennessee; grandsons, Mark Perkins, Jonathan Perkins and wife, Courtney, Randy Ball and Shawn Ball; granddaughters, Catrina Holmes and husband, Jackie, Nikki Grizzle and husband, Jessie and Emily Ball; two great-grandsons, Trent Vandyke and Noah Holmes; four great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Perkins, Josceyln Grizzle, Haylee Grizzle, and Amelia Perkins; two great-great-granddaughters, Willow Vandyke and Addison Ball; two brothers, Herman Perkins and wife, Ann, Vernie Perkins and wife, Evie; one sister, Fayrene Plaster and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Archie Hubbard and Rev. Sonny Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Otis Hess Cemetery near the home.
Grandsons and Doug Dye will serve as pallbearers.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Friday at the Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM.
