Mrs. Mattie Mae Curry, age 94, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Thursday (November 21, 2019) at her home surrounded by her family. Born July 8, 1925 in Keene Mountain, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lawson and Lona Alice Belcher Matney. A lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, she had resided in the Swords Creek area since 1954. She had been a dedicated member of the Swords Creek Community Baptist Church for over sixty years and loved to study her Bible. She enjoyed sewing, working in her flowers, and baking, but most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Curry, two brothers, Raymond Matney and Harold Matney, two sisters, Nancy Davis and Joyce Elswick, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Curry.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Shelton and husband, Larry of Swords Creek; two sons, Dean Curry of Swords Creek and Rocky Curry and wife, Barbara of Lebanon; three brothers, Kyle Matney, Don Matney, and Leonard Matney; seven grandchildren, Deanna Hartsock, Rena Owens, Chad Curry, Rocky Curry, Jr., Cindy Dye, Heather Absher, and Adam Shelton; special friends, Paulette Ramsey and Karen Helton; eleven great-grandchildren; on great-great-granddaughter and two great-great-grandsons also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Bro. Les Ritchie and Rev. Arnold King officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jay Howard, James Carter, Mark Phillips, Aaron Bostic, Marvin Short, and Randy Howard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Musick, Vernie Miller, Harvey Gent, Sam Johnson, and Randy Hughes.
