Mr. Lawrence Allen Harris, age 72, of the Hansonville area of Russell County, Virginia, passed away Sunday (November 10, 2019) to enter into the loving arms of his precious Savior, Jesus Christ. Born June 11, 1947 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Barnie and Sadie Thomas Harris. A lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, he attended Back Grissom Community Church. He had formerly been employed as a coal miner and owner/operator truck driver. He really enjoyed trucking with his many friends and family over the years. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish, but most of all spending time with his family. He enjoyed life and loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, B.F. Harris; five sisters, Shirley Johnson, Barbara Sue Thomas, Peggy Harris, Patty Blankenship, and Cathleen Stone; nieces, Brenda Covera and Katherine Hess; one great-nephew, Casey Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife and caretaker of almost 52 years, Zola Harris; one amazing son and trucking buddy, Gregg Harris and wife, Amy; one very loving daughter, Kathy Duty and husband, Allen; two precious grandchildren that he adored, Kaylee (Sissy) Harris and Chase (Bubby) Rasnake all of Hansonville; one brother, Gene Harris and wife, Hazel of Prosperity, South Carolina; two sisters, Eula Hess and husband, Harlis of Rosedale, and Anna Harris of Honaker; one special niece, Natalie Thomas of Honaker; special friend, Rev. Duane Musick; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation to Dr. Henry, the staff, patients and their families at Fresenius Dialysis Center in Lebanon, Cody, Missy, Toby, and Della of Highlands Ambulance Service, and all the nursing staff at Divine Home Health Care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Rick Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Cheyenne Harris, Mark Blankenship, Michael Blankenship, Gary Hess, Randall Lester, and Cameron Fry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Thomas, Johnny Johnson, Roy Harris, Harles Harris, Clyde Harris, Roger Harris, and Brady Harris.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Darrell Milgrim officiating.
