Mr. James Harold Creed, Sr., age 85, of Abingdon, Virginia, formerly of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Monday (October 21, 2019). Born November 5, 1933 in Holden, West Virginia, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Carrie Whitt Creed. He had spent most of his life in Buchanan County, Virginia and had been employed as a coal truck driver and a heavy equipment operator for Island Creek/Consol VP#8. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. A devoted Christian, he had been a member of Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1980. He enjoyed attending church, playing ball and tag with his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the man who raised him as his own, Chuck Bohon, Sr.; two daughters, Sandy Rowe and Carol Caudill; one grandson, Chad Rowe and one brother, Kenneth Creed.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Freddie Jeanette Keene Creed of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Billie Jean and William Sammons, Jr. of Bristol, Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, James Harold Creed, Jr. and Dianne of Abingdon; eight grandchildren, Stevie Sammons, Renee Justus, Debra Rowe, Joey Creed, Daniell Mahalick, Kelli Creed, Lori Bentley, and Michael Sammons; one sister, Catherine Lockhart and husband, Gene of Lorain, Ohio; brother-in-law, Don Keene and wife, Doris; caregivers, Renee, Sylvia, and Lisa; eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Tim Lester, Rev. Troy Lester, and Rev. Johnny Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Joey Creed, Tyler Creed, Jim Mahalick, Sam Justus, Teddy Null, Willie Keene, Johnny Keene, and Fred Danny Sanders.
Honorary pallbearers will be very special friend, Earl Ratliff, William Sammons, Johnny Rowe, Roger Caudill, Larry Null, Stevie Sammons, and Michael Sammons.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM.
