Obituary

Mrs. Beulah Mae Lowe Bailey, 79, of the Vandyke Hollow section of Oakwood, Virginia, passed away Thursday (October 3, 2019) in a Johnson City, Tennessee hospital. Born May 29, 1940 in Shortt Gap, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Earnest Lowe and Goldie Pearl Stilwell Lowe Compton. She had spent most of her life in the area and was a faithful member of Rowe Pentecostal Church. She and her husband, Carl, owned and operated Bailey’s Grocery for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willie “Bill” Vandyke, Earl and Bonnie Bailey, Link Bailey, and Reba Horn.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Carl Bailey of the home; three wonderful children, Pam Vandyke and husband, Bobby “J.R.” Vandyke, Jr. of Oakwood, Gary Bailey of Abingdon, Virginia, Angie McKinney and husband, Bill of Church Hill, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Kasey Bailey Carpenter and husband, Chris of Knoxville, and Elise McKinney and Bailey McKinney both of Church Hill; ten siblings, Delores Joyce and husband, Ralph, and Emma Arnold and husband, Lawrence “Boots” all of Claypool Hill, Hassel Lowe of Vansant, Lola Stacy and husband, Aubrey of Bristol, Virginia, Judy Stiltner of Lebanon, Nell Ball, Bonnie Whited, and Bob Lowe and wife, Brenda all of Raven, Grady Lowe and wife, Bessie and David Lowe and wife, Ruth all of Shortt Gap; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Verdie VanDyke, Geneva Bailey, Lawrence Horn, Buddy and Lois Bise; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Brad Cook, Rev. David Lowe, and Rev. Johnny Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Rowe Pentecostal Church.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.
