Mr. Billy Sunday Honaker, Jr., known as “Superstar” age 52, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (September 25, 2019) in an Indianapolis hospital, surrounded by his family and extended Indiana family. Born October 7, 1966 in Elkton, Maryland, he was a son of the late Billy Sunday Honaker, Sr. and Margie Yates Honaker. He was a lifelong resident of the southwest Virginia area and was of the Baptist faith. A disabled coal miner, he enjoyed working with his horses, barrel racing, watching football (especially the Raiders) and hunting, but most of all spending time with his family. During his sickness, he was given the gift of life as an organ recipient. His death provided an opportunity for him to be the organ donor and give others the gift of life.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a special sister, Patricia Anderson, and several additional siblings.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Diane Honaker of the home; daughter, Randi Honaker of the home, and son, David Honaker and wife, Billee Jo of Honaker; two grandchildren, Coltyn Honaker and Tayler Honaker; one brother, Mike Honaker; three sisters, Jean Whitt, Sharon Saunders, and Robin Smith; his canine companions, Shelby and Peyton; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his I.U. Methodist and Indiana family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Denver Barton and Rev. D.J. Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Ron Combs, David Dye, Jim Bradley, Travis Harr, Richard Anderson, and Carl Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carrol Blevins, George Fleming, Dr. Duncan, Dr. Roe, Dr. Hage, Dr. Salgado, Becky Stoner, Danyel Gooch, and Belinda Velasquez, and the pulmonary rehab crew.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Children’s Research 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Donate Life 701 East Byrd Street, 16th floor, Richmond, VA 23219.
