Mr. Ned Clifford Stevens, age 74, of Cleveland, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Born December 13, 1944 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Margaret Osborne Stevens. A lifelong resident of the Cleveland area, he had formerly been employed as a coal miner and a logger. He attended Word of Victory Church as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed coon hunting, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hogston Stevens, three brothers, three sisters, and several infant siblings.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Clifford Stevens and friend, Kathy Peck, and Ronald Lee Stevens and friend, Gail Parrott all of Cleveland; three daughters, Loretta Jean Street and husband, Rondal of Rowe, Betsy Ball and fiancé, Jeff Gross of Honaker, and Margaret Parrott and husband, Michael of Cleveland; three step-children, Sarah Rethford of the home, Kayla Mickles and Mark Rose both of Lebanon; five sisters, Emily Viola Crabtree and Carnell Rasnake both of Honaker, Ethel Powers of Manassas, Nadean Houser of Bristol, and Mary Ann Crabtree of Cleveland; special friend and caregiver, Deborah Dye; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Danny Rhea officiating. Interment will follow in the Crabtree Cemetery on Sandy Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Zack Austin, Mark Rose, Wayne Harris, Osborne Deel, Ricky Crabtree, and Danny Crabtree.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
