Mrs. Lyle Owens, age 76, of Vansant, Virginia, passed away Monday (September 23, 2019) at Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. Born April 19, 1943 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late James “Jim” Owens and Rosie Ellen Runyon Owens Childress. She had spent most of her life in the Buchanan County area and was of the Baptist faith. A loving mother, she enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and playing Bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Gene Owens, grandchildren, Zachary Ryan, Gabriella, and Isaac, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four children, Tommy Owens and Delores of Vansant, Catherine Tiller and husband, Tracy of Council, Charma Hammond of Abingdon, and Matthew Owens of the home; two sisters, Plina Deel and Geraldine Deel; one brother, Roy Childress; seven grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Ballad Hospice House, and Marlenia Owens for the care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Kyle Ratliff officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Delmer Owens, Earl Compton, William Compton, Dale Hargis, Keith Colley, Don Colley, and Ralph Colley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Colley, Joey Hurley, Jeff Compton, Shannon Whitt, Ralph Hurley, Dr. T, Dr. Williams, and Coetta Neece.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday
