Obituary for Ruby Arlene Lambert (Ratliff)

Ruby Arlene Lambert, known affectionately as Arlene, age 87, of Rosedale, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning (September 8, 2019) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born August 31, 1932 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Ella Breeding Ratliff. A 1949 graduate of Council High School, she had spent her early life in the area, prior to moving to northern Virginia. She and her husband were employed for over forty years at A. Smith Bowman. They returned back to Rosedale, Virginia in 1998 and were members of Fletcher’s Ridge Freewill Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and reading. She had bravely fought cancer from 1970 until the 90’s, at which time she went into final remission and was able to enjoy life. She was a strong, independent woman, who was very caring and compassionate individual.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Lambert; one son, James Henry Lambert and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Lambert and wife, Patricia of Calabash, North Carolina and Jerry Lambert and wife, Altea of Salisbury, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Trevor, Tracey, Jason, Brian, Amanda, Jason, Jessica and Adam; one sister, Blanche Rasnake; brother-in-law, Wayne Lambert; special sister-in-law, Joyce Lambert; twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Troy Harris officiating. Interment and graveside services will be conducted at the Lambert Cemetery on Fletchers’ Ridge, Virginia with Rev. Carl Burmeier officiating.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Kyle Ratliff officiating.
