Mr. Teddy Maxil Dye, age 84, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday (August 31, 2019) at his home. Born February 27, 1935 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Patton and Mintie Compton Dye. He had spent most of his life in the area and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. A retired coal miner with thirty-five years of service, he had been employed by Pittston Coal and was a member of the UMWA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Price, Vertie Hess, and Betty Jean Mickles, one brother, Delmer Dye, and his former wife, Dorothy Dye.
Survivors include two sons, Teddy Junior Dye and wife, Vanessa, and Kenny Lee Dye all of Swords Creek; two sisters, Shirley Ann Honaker of Honaker and Bonnie Hull of Richlands; four grandchildren, Kaitlin Yates and husband, Matthew, Logan Dye, Kacie Dye, and Devan Dye; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday at Swords Creek Community Baptist Church, 3305 Kents Ridge Road, Swords Creek, Virginia with Pastor Arnold King officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 – 7 PM at Swords Creek Community Baptist Church.
