Mr. Kenny Thomas, age 71, of the Cartwright Road section of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Saturday (August 10, 2019) at his home. Born October 13, 1947 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Lewis Thomas and Okley Whitt Brown Thomas. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith. A disabled coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wade Brown and Roger Thomas, two sisters, Dagney Stevens and Janice Compton, companion, Barbara Tiller and several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include one brother, Stevie Thomas of Rowe, Virginia; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Chester Ball and Rev. Johnny Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitt Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Baldwin officiating.
