Mr. Paul Arthur Combs, age 74, of the Combs Valley section of Cleveland, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (July 31, 2019) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born December 17, 1944 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Paris and Thelma Smith Combs. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Christian faith. He was a disabled coal miner, having been employed at several area coal mines. Paul never met a stranger, loved to talk and was always ready to greet folks with a kind word and a piece of candy. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his rabbit beagles, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Combs and Carl Ed Combs, and four sisters, Lottie Musick, Pauline Wallace, Naydine Musick, and Geraldine Combs. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of the immediate family.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Patsy Sue Yates Combs of the home; one daughter, Carol Stevens and husband, Jeff of Cleveland; one son, Jeffrey Combs and wife, Mindy of Lebanon; four grandsons, Matt Stevens and wife, Brooke, Josh Stevens and wife, Kelli, Tyler “T.C.” Combs, and Hunter Combs; one granddaughter, Addison Combs; six great-grandchildren, Laken Stevens, Skyler Stevens, Rylan Stevens, Aniston Stevens, Jaylee Stevens, and Logan Stevens; one step-grandson, Ethan Honaker; one step-granddaughter, Haley Honaker; step-great-grandson, Brayson Richardson; several nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Fairley Spencer and Rev. Denver Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the Combs Cemetery on Combs Valley section of Cleveland, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Josh Stevens, Matt Stevens, T.C. Combs, Hunter Combs, Skyler Stevens, Rylan Stevens, Logan Stevens, Guy Combs, Justin Musick, and Randy Valadez.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday.
