Rev. Ettie Connie Ray Hess, age 84, of the Miller Creek section of Swords Creek, Virginia went to be with Jesus on Wednesday (April 17, 2019) at the home of her daughter-in-law, Sue Hess, who was her caregiver. Born October 19, 1934 in Hess Creek, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Carbet and Gussie Hess Ray. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Freewill Baptist faith and attended Perkins Chapel. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and mother-in-law. She loved to work in her house and spend time with her family and friends, but found her greatest joy in serving the Lord and sharing the Gospel message with others.
