Mr. Otis Keen, age 85, of the Big Branch section of Oakwood, Virginia passed away Sunday morning (March 31, 2019) at his home. Born July 22, 1933 in Dwight, Virginia, he was a son of the late Harve B. and Lindia Hinkle Keen. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Dismal Holiness Church. He had served his country proudly in the United States Army, having been stationed in Germany from 1953-1955. He was employed as a coal miner for Clinchfield Coal Company until he was injured in 1980. He later began doing construction work and was employed by Mac Construction and later for W.L. Construction for many years. He loved to hunt, fish and ginseng, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Sherman Keen, Clyde Keen, Robert Keen, Walter Keen, Wesley Keen, Andrew Keen and Herman Keen and two sisters, Mazie Hibbitts and Kathleen Smith.
He is survived by his cousins, who were his caregivers and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Kinder and Rev. Billy Vandyke officiating. Interment will follow in the Hinkle Cemetery at Dismal, Virginia.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Wednesday.
