Obituary for Mildred Wilson (Honaker)

Mrs. Mildred Honaker Wilson, age 101, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (July 24, 2017) in a Chilhowie, Virginia nursing facility. Born December 16, 1915 in Finney, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Etta Wallace Honaker. A lifelong resident of the Honaker area, she was a member of the New Garden Primitive Baptist Church and Finney Senior Citizens in which she had formerly served as President. She had been employed as a clerk at the local Ben Franklin Store for over thirty years and always greeted everyone with a smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Emory Wilson, one son, Billy Dean Wilson, and several brothers and sisters. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Cook and husband, Wayne of Columbus, Ohio, Nancy Burkett and husband, Sexton of Lebanon, Virginia, Mary Kathryn Batt and husband, Jack of Spotsylvania, Virginia; one son, David Alan Wilson and wife, Sue Ann of Columbus, Ohio, seventeen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday in the Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends the Honaker Funeral Home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday.
